As part of their Literacy learning last half term, Year 5 were introduced to a book called ‘The Boy in the Girls’ Bathroom’. Whilst reading this book, children were given opportunities to write poetry and write a school report from the school counsellor’s perspective. During these lessons, children learnt how to use similes and metaphors within their poems to express the emotions of the troubled boy in the book. They also learnt to use a wide range of sentences (even multi-clauses!) in their school reports. The book was a great way to engage the children in Literacy and they have produced fantastic pieces of work which have made great displays across all of the schools!
