We have enjoyed a very festive week at Cypress, enjoying Christmas crafts and card-making and enjoying our Christmas lunch on Wednesday! We have a very filling plate of turkey or vegetable parcels, with stuffing, optional sausage, vegetables and gravy. It was delicious! We then had a pudding of ice cream and candy cane shaped biscuits! We listened to Christmas music as we sat and ate with our class teachers.
Today, we have worn festive clothes to celebrate Christmas Jumper Day. Thank you to all those who have brought in donations, which will be sent to Save the Children – a charity that works in the UK and around the world, making sure children are safe and supporting them to learn, grow and become who they want to be.
We also had a fantastic assembly from the multi talented Lime Class today, who re-enacted the story ‘The Promise’ by Nicola Davies. It is a story that begins with a theft and ends with positive transformation in the place where it is set and finishes with a thought-provoking message of hope. There was acting, props, and some singing. Well done to Lime class and thank you too to Miss Patel, Ms Braithwaite and Mrs Joshi, helping the children to deliver such an amazing performance.
Well done to Loretta in Hazel class who was our ‘Word Wizard’ this week, writing a very well-structured sentence using the word ‘exuberant’ in the correct context! Well done also to Joe in Birch class for his very clear instructional writing, explaining how to make a dinosaur! A big congratulations to our superstar reader Rosie (Cedar), who received her gold Accelerated Reading certificate this week! We have two very skillful sculptors in Birch class – great job William and Ella, who have created amazing dinosaurs from clay, inspired by Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins.
A special thank-you to Ashvi in Lime Class, who came to my office to give me a compliment! We are always thinking about kindness and in class, look at how small acts of kindness make others feel. Thank you Ashvi – you brightened my day!
