This week, year 3 have been inspired by different artists, writers and illustrators and as a result, have created some beautiful stories and artwork.
During our Minishout festival, one of our virtual workshops was by the author and illustrator, Nicholas Allan, who wrote a very funny story about a toilet that came to life. We were inspired to write our own stories about an inanimate object that magically comes to life and causes mischief. First, we created character maps to flesh out our character and its personality. Then we turned these initial ideas into a storyboard before finally writing and publishing our own mini-books.
During art week, we have been examining the life and work of land artists and sculptors Antony Gormley and Andy Goldsworthy. We were intrigued by their use of natural materials to create pieces of art, as it made us consider how prehistoric people would have been limited to what was in their natural surroundings to create decorative pieces.
We had a go at being land artists by using the natural materials we found at Forest School and in the garden. Then, we used objects we had found in the garden to help decorate our clay pots just like prehistoric people would have done. Have a look at our brilliant work in the gallery below.
