To build on their learning about ‘The Great Fire of London’, Year 2 children visited the famous Monument. Undeterred by poor weather, they got the train to London Bridge and enjoyed views of well-known London landmarks such as Tower Bridge, St Paul’s Cathedral and The Shard. They climbed the Monument, situated off Pudding Lane, where the fire broke out in a bakery just over 350 years ago.
“I can’t believe we climbed up and down 622 stairs”, explained one enthusiastic child. Another said “It was grey, windy and rainy but still a brilliant morning out!”
