Making marvellous medicine

Year 2 had a marvellous time creating their very own medicines.  Putting themselves in the main character’s shoes, they concocted the most hideous of mixtures to help George take revenge on his beastly grandmother.

All week, the children have been looking at imperative or ‘bossy’ verbs and have learned how to write instructions. They have put this into practice by making their own medicines using a variety of revolting ingredients. The instructions explained how to ‘pour’, ‘sprinkle’, ‘squirt’, ‘spray’ and ‘mash’ items into a gigantic saucepan, ready to be cooked up. This included shaving foam, cat food, spiders’ eggs and dragon blood. George’s granny better beware!
