Year 1 have started learning about animals in their science lessons. This week, we looked at how animals are classified and focused on the animal group mammals. After learning about the characteristics of mammals, we used our knowledge to sort pictures into their animal groups. As a challenge, children went on to explain how they knew which animals were mammals using their knowledge of characteristics to justify their reasoning.
