CYP LOWER – Year 1 children return to Cypress

It has been so wonderful welcoming some of our Year 1 children back to Cypress this week. Seeing their smiling faces and enthusiasm to be back at school has been truly heart-warming and all the staff here at Cypress Lower Site have had a fantastic first week with the children.

Some of the activities we have been doing this week include: Cosmic Yoga, plenty of PHSE activities to ensure children have the time and the space to discuss their feelings about returning to school and making excellent use of our fabulous outside space in the woodland and on the school field. Our Patron of Reading, Margaret Bateson-Hill, has bravely hosted numerous ‘virtual’ story telling sessions which were both interactive and spell-binding.

We have also done African artwork, made Forest School leaf crowns, played socially distanced games outside, hunted for ladybirds and so much more.

The children in our keyworker provision are also having great fun!

Life at Cypress looks slightly different at the moment but in so many ways, things remain the same. Have a fantastic weekend!
