When mapping enthuses…
Our YR1 children had a great time learning how to use simple compass points to find some treasure in our outdoor environment! The simple catch phrase ‘Never eat slimy worms’ seemed to help them to remember the position of the 4 points on the compass.
They also drew some great plans of our playgrounds, with a simple key to represent the main features. The last geography session was full of excitement, as they made 3D maps of the ‘Blowyernose Isle’ from the story ‘Jack and the Flumflum tree’ by Julia Donaldson and David Roberts.
