This week, Year 5 went on a maths trip to St John’s Church in Upper Norwood, in order to explore the shapes that could be seen in and around the historical building. Children and staff were met by Father John and Father Daniel, who gave them a tour and a brief history of the church. The meaning behind the architectural structure of the building was discussed and the children learnt how the shapes which they discovered, fit within Christianity. The children had a great time learning about shapes within the this environment and were able to understand the properties of 3D and 2D shapes much more after their visit. Thank you to both to Father John and Father Daniel for showing the children around, also also thank you to Mrs Rae for organising the visits.
