The Bee in Me

Ms Achenbach writes: They don’t let me out nearly as often as I would like to go out, but this week I had the real pleasure of accompanying Year 5 to The Unicorn Theatre in London Bridge to watch a performance of ‘The Bee in Me’ – a story about imagination and the hardships that children go through in their everyday lives. This was the first live theatre performance for some of the children and even for those who have been to the theatre before, the very intimate ‘contemporary’ performance was something of a change. I loved watching the children’s initial doubts melt into enthralment and the stage craft created more than a little ‘awe and wonder’.  Many of them also recognised the lead actress, Emily Burnett, from the TV show ‘The Dumping Ground’ – which led to a little more excitement.  It was so lovely to see all of the Whitehorse Manor Year 5 pupils together in one place – we practically took up the whole auditorium!  There are lots of exciting things on at The Unicorn Theatre and it is just by London Bridge, making it a superb destination for a day trip in the half term. https://www.unicorntheatre.com/whatson
