It was lovely seeing children using the outside area for a Year 6 science lesson this week. The children have been studying adaptation and the use of camouflage in the animal kingdom. They carried out a real world science test by trying to find as many multi-coloured strings as possible around the playground in a given amount of time. They found that there was a distinct lack of green strings among their ‘hauls’ as they found these difficult to find amongst the grass.
Year 1 put their science knowledge to good use in the practical application of designing a superhero cape! They studied a range of materials and decided which ones had the best properties for a superhero cape.
