There is a wealth of resources on the web to support the teaching of grammar, phonics and creative writing.
Grammar: We have resourced a grammar lesson on regular plural nouns e.g. adding s and irregular plural nouns e.g. adding es. There are some attached activity sheets and an on-line game at https://www.arcademics.com/games/bumper-boat-bash.
Phonics: There is a phonic-based activity on tongue twisters, focused on the initial sounds (alliteration) and more phonic fun at http://www.phonicsplaycomics.co.uk/.
Creative writing: You can watch an animation called ‘The book of butterflies’ at https://www.literacyshed.com/butterflies.html and use the clip as a writing stimulus for a story about a book that came to life. In the original story the boring, grey room is transformed by the butterflies. This can be adapted by the children. Other animals could come out of the book – what would happen if lions and tigers came out of the book into the classroom? What would happen if fish came out? – have to scoop them up quickly and put them into a tank, etc.
You may link that animation to the story ‘Chalk’ that children have read at school.
