Year 2 is an important year where children take their Key Stage 1 SATs. In the summer Year 2 children will sit two reading papers and two maths papers. These SATs papers are then used to inform teacher assessment at the end of the year. To improve the outcomes for our children we would encourage parents to support their children’s learning at home. Reading with your child is very important and supports both your child’s reading and writing in school. Reinforcing key maths knowledge at home, such as place value and times tables, will also strengthen your child’s mathematical knowledge.
This term, we invited parents to attend a Year 2 curriculum meeting to find out more about the expectations in Year 2. Many parents asked if they could have access to the PowerPoint from this meeting. If you were unable to attend this PowerPoint would be very useful for you to look at too.
Working together we can ensure that our children reach their true potential.
