Another beautiful day was taking shape this morning, as we ate our breakfasts and prepared ourselves for a trip just a short coach drive down the road to Robin Hill Country Park. In our groups, we were able to take part in lots of different activities throughout the park. These included exploring the treetop canopy on ‘the Squirrel Adventure’, behaving like pirates on the almighty ‘Colossus’ ride, hurtling through deep space on a 4D simulator, eventually finding our way back through a tricky maze and speeding downhill on a toboggan run. Some of us also chose to watch an amazing falconry display in which we were lucky enough to see a peregrine falcon, the world’s fastest animal, execute an amazing aerobatic performance. Some of the children were even lucky enough to be able to hold this amazing creature after the display! Following our exhausting afternoon, we were back on the coaches for 5pm, returning to Sandown for a barbecue dinner and a quick change for the beach, which is just a few seconds walk from the hotel. At the beach, many children were brave enough to go into the sea, which though not ice cold, is not quite the Maldives! Others were happy to hone their beach football skills, build sandcastles, learn how to skim stones, hunt for fossils or participate in countless other enjoyable activities of their own invention. On returning from the beach, after a warming cup of hot chocolate, it was off to bed. Another great day on the Island and we can’t quite believe how fast time is flying by. Tomorrow is our last full day and it’s set to be another good one: Black Gang Chine theme park and… the disco!
