June progress on building works at Whitehorse Manor

June was a productive month on site and a few important 'milestones' were reached.  After spending the first part of the month boarding the roof at the front of the school and applying a waterproof membrane the roofers started to add the 'Tecu' shingles.  The roof on the junior hall is now almost covered with Tecu and as a result is now watertight allowing work on the internal finishes to begin in July.  We can now get the first impression of what the completed building will look like.  The fascia for the new admin block has also been installed and is now ready for the final layer of cedar tiles to be put up.  Many of the windows on the site have been fitted giving the spaces a more enclosed feeling.  The first equipment in the kitchen – extractor fans above the cookers – has now been installed ready for the fit out (inclding tiling and painting) to be completed later.  The roof is under construction on the new classroom at the front of the school and this should hopefully be completed soon making another section of the project watertight.  The next update will be in September when I return from the summer holiday to see how things have progressed.     Mr Roberts.
