Well done to this week’s reading raffle winners who chose their new books in assembly this morning. As well as celebrating the lucky winners, we talked about how important reading is and the impact that it has on children’s learning in all areas. Many studies show that reading at home every day is the single most important thing you can do to support your child’s learning. It impacts on achievement in maths, develops listening skills, increases empathy, communication and self esteem and has been shown to increase earning power in adult life. Perhaps most importantly, however, the chance to share a book with a child is a wonderful opportunity to have some restful time together developing a love of books.
