What an amazing start to the week we have had! Coaches left schools shortly before 10 am, heading for Southampton where we caught the ferry across the Solent to the Isle of Wight. Ideal sailing conditions greeted us upon our arrival to the ferry terminal, a cool breeze was blowing and the sky was clear. After around an hour at sea, having enjoyed the panoramic view from the open air deck, we docked at East Cowes and departed from the ferry on our coaches.
The first stop was to the far west of the Island, Tapnell Farm Park. Our first outing of the week, there were a range of exciting and unusual activities to try, including a hay bale maze, go-karts, a climbing tower and a giant bouncy castle. We were also able to experience life on a working farm and got to meet lots of different animals. Next up was the journey across the island, through the fields and over the downs, to our hotels in Sandown. On the way to the hotels, a couple of eagle-eyed children spotted Carisbrooke Castle (which will be tomorrow’s first destination) from the coach window. Once everyone had settled into their rooms, we had a well-earned dinner and prepared for bed time. All in all, a smooth journey to the island and we’re all looking forward to Tuesday!
