CYP LOWER – Weekly Round Up

We have had an action-packed week here at Cypress Lower! Here are a few of the things we have been up to:

Virtual Assembly with Mrs Sorensen: We had some surprise visitors on Monday for our virtual assembly. Mrs Sorensen and her baby Daisy joined us and the children (and staff!) were all so excited to see both of them. Daisy behaved impeccably for her debut appearance at Cypress and the children in each class asked Mrs Sorensen some very interesting and thoughtful questions, such as: “Is baby Daisy difficult to look after?” and “Why are her eyes closed?” Thank you Mrs Sorensen for joining our Monday assembly and making us all very happy by being able to see you and your beautiful baby!

Christmas Hoops: The hall at Cypress Lower looks very festive and sparkly with our Christmas hoops hanging from the ceiling. Each class from Rainbows upwards made a huge effort and it is heart-warming to see the variety of Christmas crafts on display, including neon reindeer, gingerbread men and houses, candy canes, Christmas trees, snowmen, Santas, snowflakes and lots more! We hope the photos will give you an idea of how wonderful they look.

Nativity Preparations: Reception and Year 1 have been working hard, practising their Christmas songs and learning their lines. We will be recording their amazing efforts towards the end of the week and will let you know when the performance is available to watch at home.

Christmas Reading Challenge: Our wonderful resident Reading Champion, Mrs Parker, has set all the children a Christmas Reading Challenge. We would love you to get involved with this at home and we are also doing the challenge in every class. Please find the Reading Challenge here

On line safety – https://nationalonlinesafety.com – ‘NOS’ an excellent website / App with up – to – date information on all new online games at the touch of a button.   It has been brought to our attention that many children are playing new online games such ‘Among Us’, ‘Piggie’ and ‘Adopt me’.  We would like to ensure that our parents and carers have ‘up – to – date’ information about these games and access to ‘top tips’ on how to keep your children safe when playing on line.  Many of our parents and carers will be buying their children games and electronic devices for Christmas, again we would like to support our parents in keeping their children safe.  Cypress have been part of a trail for the new National Online Safety (NOS)  App and highly recommend this App which can be downloaded on Google play and on the App store.

Jack Frost visits Year 2: On Thursday, Year 2 had an extremely mischievous and frosty visitor when Jack Frost came to visit! He got up to so many cheeky antics and his visit inspired the children in Year 2 to write Mrs Roberts a letter to complain about how naughty he was! He did redeem himself somewhat by leaving each class some ice and snow-themed Christmas decorations!

Staff Singing in the Forest: The week ended with many of our staff having a festive sing-song in the woodland area, to help raise money for our brilliant PTFA.
