CYP LOWER – Spooky Fun in Little Cypress!

We have had a spooky time in Little Cypress this week, learning all about Halloween. We have investigated different resources related to Halloween and had a great time, scaring each other with our dressing up costumes and masks and playing with creepy crawlies such as spiders and centipedes.

We have developed our fine motor skills through putting push pins in the pumpkins, squashes and gourds and adding elastic bands and buttons to increase the complexity of the task. We did brilliantly and made some incredible shapes and patterns in the fruits.

We have been celebrating Black History Month and have particularly focused this week on multi-cultural stories. We have heard different members of staff reading stories at the end of each day, including ‘Billy and the Beast’. ‘Baby Goes to Market’ and ‘Coming to England’. We concluded our celebrations by dressing up on Friday in clothes that reflect our culture. What an amazing range of outfits we had from Nigeria, Somalia, Portugal, Jamaica, England, Italy, Iraq…. to name but a few.

It seems incredible that our first half term has vanished! A huge well done to all the children for settling so well in Little Cypress and their parents/carers for all your support. Have a wonderful half term break!
