We hope you are all well and are adapting to this new way of life, away from school. We have been thinking of our families so much and send you our best wishes.
We wanted to send you some ideas for the Reception children to do at home, linked to the work that they had recently covered in school. Do have a go at some of these activities if you can. We would love to see some photos of your work – please email to: firstname.lastname@example.org with your child’s name and class.
https://youtu.be/rze89HB9u8g – please click on this link for a reading of one of our favourite books, Supertato!
Children could make their own Supertato superhero using a potato, decorate it and then upload a photo on the home learning email (please see above). They could tell or write a story using it or take photos of it around the house helping to “save the day”. They could draw it, give it a name, write what superpowers it has, label what it wears. This could then be extended to asking the children to make veggie kebabs e.g slices of pepper, carrots, sweetcorn, courgette – whatever you have at home!
We will add news stories regularly with some further ideas and, hopefully, a weekly phonics re-cap lesson!
In the meanwhile, the children could keep on reading, drawing, playing board games and doing jigsaw puzzles, helping with cooking and chores around the house, as well as playing with their toys, using their imaginations to make up games and role-play scenarios.
Audible now now made all their books and audio stories free for as long as schools are closed. Please use the following link to stream on to your devices: https://stories.audible.com/start-listen
Please all take care, stay safe and look after each other!
From The Reception Team
