We have come to the end of another busy and exciting week at Cypress Lower School. Here’s a little update of what we’ve been up to this week.
We have had our elections for our School Councillors this week. Children have worked hard in producing their manifestos and convincing their classes that they will be sensible and effective school councillors, armed with brilliant ideas to improve our school. Our newly elected councillors have been presented with their official badges during our Google Meet assembly today and will have their first meeting with Miss Wenham next week. Well done to our new school councillors and to everyone who stood for election! Our newly elected school councillors are:
|Year 1||Year 2|
Indigo class: Marvin and Alice
Blue class: Dara and Evie
Green class: Ignas and Jack
Turquoise class: Berry and Jack
Violet class: Ethan and Amelie
Ruby class: Faaiza and Ray
Forest School, our new woodland corridor and outdoor learning
Forest School was very popular this week and the children in Orange, Red and Violet Classes have enjoyed their sessions in the woodland with Kathryn Spencer, our Forest School teacher. Other classes also make good use our fabulous woods, school field and grounds during the week. The woodland theme has continued inside this week with some wonderful creatures adorning the walls of our corridor leading to the school hall. As the children walk up or down this corridor they can spot many familiar faces. See if your child can tell you all about this incredible installation! There are some photos below of our new school councillors so you can all have a sneak peek as well.
New office post box
Another installation at Lower School has been a red postbox on the fences opposite Little Cypress. Please drop any letters, forms or paperwork that you would normally bring to the school office in this postbox whilst the office remains closed during the Covid-19 restrictions.
Today we have had a fantastic response to our MacMillan Cancer Care Coffee Morning. Whilst we can’t have the usual coffee morning face to face, children have brought in their donations for this amazing charity and all the names of those who have donated went in to a raffle draw to win one of Ms Shadbolt’s incredible cakes. The lucky winner today was Mehnaz in Red class – we’re all very jealous! We raised a brilliant £250 so thank you all so much for your kind donations to this important cause.
Families will have received a text linking to a letter on our website today, which explains where you can find your child’s online logins and gives some further information about class blogs and home learning in the event that your child is self-isolating. Please take some time to read this letter, which you can also find here.
After all the buzz and the activity of the week, we hope you all have a relaxing weekend. Thank you for your continued efforts in keeping our site safe by wearing your masks and keeping your distance!
