Another busy week has flown by at Cypress Lower School! We have managed to pack so many things in to five days and we’d like to share some of these things with you. The rather inclement weather hasn’t got in the way of our learning and having fun!
Our newly elected School Council met with Ms Wenham this week for their first official meeting. They have been spotted around the Lower School this week proudly wearing their shiny new badges. They discussed improvements they’d like to make to the Lower School and came up some great ideas such as making the playground more colourful, starting a football team and even opening a tuck shop… watch this space! We have included some photos of them below and they have also had their photos taken for our School Council display.
Health and safety update
We are always reviewing and making improvements to our arrangements at school in light of Covid-19. From next Monday morning we will be opening the driveway in the mornings (as well as after school) to support social distancing. Please use the driveway if you’re walking UP the hill and use the pathway if you’re walking DOWN Cypress Road when you leave the school site. We are keeping our classrooms well ventilated so as the weather turns colder and wetter please ensure your child has their jumper, wears a vest/tights and has a suitable coat and footwear in school.
Dinner trays and lunchtimes
The children are now using our new red flight trays which makes it easier for them to collect their dinner and pudding from the kitchen hatch at the same time. Lunchtimes are running smoothly at the Lower School and even our youngest children are able to follow our routines of carefully washing our hands and leaving a space when they sit down. Each year group has their own timed slot in the hall and our staff are working hard to ensure all of our children are happily fed and our enhanced cleaning routines are followed.
Building our Learning Powers
Children have been building their learning powers this week and have been focusing on learning about persevering. During our virtual Rainbow assembly this morning lots of children received certificates for trying their best, never giving up and persevering with tricky challenges.
Have a lovely weekend everyone and stay dry!
