Dear parents and carers,
Welcome back to school for the second half of the Autumn term.
Our Learning Focus
This half term, our learning focus is 'Colour and Shape.' We will be revising the colours and exploring what happens when we mix them. We will look at colour and pattern in our environment and learn about rainbows. On 18th November, 'Maths Week' begins across the school. The children will take part in lots of investigation of shapes and their properties in a variety of contexts.
This half term is always a busy one in the run-up to Christmas. We will be holding a 'Christmas Fun Session' during the last week of term when you can join us to watch your child sing some Christmas songs and take part in Christmas craft activities together. The children will also have their Christmas party during that week. Further details of both of these events will be made available nearer the time.
As the weather gets colder, please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for playing outside. The Early Years curriculum states that nursery children should be given the opportunity to go out every day, whatever the weather, so please make sure that your child has warm clothes to wear, all clearly labelled with names. Please encourage your child to practise putting on gloves, hats, coats, etc, as this helps to save a lot of time.
Applications for Primary School
Just a reminder that applications for your child’s primary school place [for Reception class from September 2014] must be received by Croydon Council by Wednesday 15th January. Applications can be completed electronically online or on paper and posted to the address on the form. Failure to get your child’s application in on time can jeopardise the chances of getting a place at a school of your choice. If you need any help or information regarding completing the application process, please speak to the Nursery staff.
We look forward to continuing to work with you.
