Year 4 have been studying the book Krindlerax by Philip Ridley. The children have taken part in many activities to 'get into the shoes' of the characters they have met so far. One of these activities involved the children generating exciting vocabulary and descriptive phrases about a sewer setting. To help the children teachers set up 'sewer systems' in their classrooms for the children to explore. Children crawled through dark tunnels with cobwebs. They squeezed through pipes listening to the sounds of rushing water and scurrying rats! After experiencing these dark, cramped and awkard spaces the children could easily sympathise with the character of 'Corky' in the book.
