Whitehorse Manor Juniors welcomed former pupil and Crystal Palace Football Club’s star player Wilfried Zaha yesterday alongside the CBBC presenter Ben Shires. Some children were told about his arrival in advance to prepare questions but the rest had no idea that a rising star from the Premier League was about to gate-crash our quiet little school just around the corner from Selhurst Park. Wilfried was overwhelmed at the response he received to the cheering ovation in our special assembly in which we all learned a little bit about the life of a superstar. Some of the teachers and support staff that were at Whitehorse when Wilfried attended school are still here today, including Mr Stephenson who taught him in Year 5. The highlight of the day was the moment when Mr Stephenson presented Wilfried with a poem that he had written when he was only 10 years old. We loved having Wilfried here and we hope to see him back at some point in the future. Good luck for the rest of the season Wilf!
