Today Year 4, were lucky enough to take part in workshops with story teller and motivational speaker Alim Kamara, funded by the Cypress PTFA. Alim taught us how to remember a sequence of pictures by telling a story. We used our LIPS: listening, imagination, participation and sharing to help us. We joined in acting out stories and had a great time.
Alim then taught us about team work through a cup stacking activity where we had to work together to build the highest tower. Some of us found this really hard but by the end we were working together really well.
We learnt about the difference between fixed and growth mindset and how having a growth mindset helps us to learn more. Alim really inspired us with his words, energy and enthusiasm and we had a wonderful day.
Year 4 will be completing some follow up work on storytelling, team work and growth mindset this week.
Thank you Alim for visiting us today and for the Cypress PTFA for funding our Book Week author visit and workshops.
