CYP LOWER – Poppies for Remembrance

The Lower School at Cypress was a sea of poppies today for Armistice Day. We commemorated all those who had given their lives in service, during war, by each child from Rainbows to Year 2 making their own poppy. At 11.00am we all fell silent for two minutes in recognition of the sacrifice of so many in order that we enjoy the freedoms we have today. Mrs Roberts led a very moving Remembrance Assembly over Googlemeet and even our very youngest children in Little Cypress were silent whilst watching the touching CBeebies clip to mark the day (we also repeated this Act of Remembrance in the afternoon for those who attend afternoons only).  Here is a link to this beautiful clip:

Remembrance with CBeebies

The staff room was laden with poppy themed treats today to raise money for the Royal British Legion. Our wonderful staff were very generous with their contributions to this very worthwhile cause and so far we have raised £82.00, just today.

Please ask the children what they remember about this special day.
