Monday’s assembly was a celebration of reading achievements across the school which we celebrate every four weeks. Children in reception, year 1 and year 2 were given certificates in recognition of their reading achievements through Bug Club (our online reading scheme) and reading regularly at home. The children that have read the most Bug Club books from each class were given a “bug” token with their name on it, these are proudly displayed in our school library. Two children from each class were identified as trying exceptionally hard to read at home every day, they were awarded a “butterfly” token which is also being proudly displayed in our school library. We are so pleased with the number of children that are now regularly reading at home that we gave every child in the school a butterfly award sticker. Thank you to all our families that make a huge effort to support their children at home with reading, it really makes a big difference to the vocabulary that children use in their writing and their ability to problem solve in maths.
