Yesterday, we celebrated home reading achievements across the school, which we celebrate every half term. Children in reception, year 1 and year 2 were given certificates in recognition of their reading achievements through Bug Club (our online reading scheme) and daily home reading. The children that have read the most Bug Club books from each class were given a “bug” token with their name on it, which are proudly displayed in our school library. Two children from each class were identified as trying exceptionally hard to read at home every day, they were awarded a “butterfly” token, which are also being proudly displayed in our school library. Thank you to all of our families that make a huge effort to support their children at home with reading, it really makes a big difference to their reading fluency, the vocabulary that they use in their writing and their ability to problem solve in maths.
