In today’s assembly we celebrated reading achievements across the school which we celebrate every four weeks. Children in reception, year 1 and year 2 were given certificates in recognition of their reading achievements through Bug Club (our online reading scheme) and reading regularly at home. We also gave out silver and gold certificates to those children that have been reading “Bug Club” books consistently throughout the year. The children that have read the most Bug Club books from each class were given a “bug” token with their name on it, these are proudly displayed in our school computer suite. One child from each class was identified as trying exceptionally hard to read at home every day or for having a fantastic attitude towards reading in class, they were awarded a “butterfly” token which is being proudly displayed in our school library. Thank you to all our families that make a huge effort to support their children at home with reading, it really makes a big difference to their reading fluency, the vocabulary that they use in their writing and their ability to problem solve in maths.
