All through the summer term our staff and children worked hard to develop our outside growing areas. I kept the parents and carers posted with website stories showing their progress. They all did such an amazing job – the garden areas looked wonderful and the children really enjoyed the experience. We entered the school into the ‘Thornton Health in Bloom’ competition in the children’s plants or vegetables category and were awarded first prize! Although we have reached the end of the growing season, the children have enjoyed harvesting and eating their fruit and vegetables, especially the juicy, red tomatoes! We are now planning for the winter and next spring. If you are a keen gardener or would like to come into school to work with the children, please call the school office.
