Last Friday, we celebrated home reading achievements across the school, which we celebrate every half term. Children in year 1 and year 2 were given certificates in recognition of their reading achievements through Bug Club (our online reading scheme) and daily home reading. All children reading books on our ‘Bug Club’ have been given a bookmark and will be able to collect “bug” stickers for reading books on Bug Club- the first sticker awarded was a ladybird. Children from each class were identified as trying exceptionally hard to read at home every day, they were awarded a “butterfly” token, which are proudly displayed in our school library. Thank you to all of our families that make a huge effort to support their children at home with reading, it really makes a big difference to their reading fluency, the vocabulary that they use in their writing and their ability to problem solve in maths.
