Upper school – Croydon Schools’ Athletics Championships

Well, our children were absolutely incredible again this year! Most of our sprinters and both the boys
and girls relay teams reached the semi-finals on Wednesday. The throwers and jumpers did
amazingly well too.
The standard at the arena was phenomenal. To reach qualification in the semi-finals, you had to
finish first, second or third. A couple of children finished fourth… so close. In the semi-finals, a few of
our children just missed out on qualifying for the finals.
Well done to all children who attended. We are so proud of your efforts. I would particularly like to
mention Tamia, in year three – who stood in at the very last minute in the relay, to replace a year 5
runner. She was so courageous. Straight after, she had to run her own sprint race!
The teams: Relay – Xavier, Kamarion, Kyrese, Cameron and Micaiah, Annalise, Arayah, Divine,
Tamia and Shanai. Sprinters –Marvin and Tyani. Long Distance- Aidan and Judith. Throwers- Ben
and Mary. Jumpers- Kyrese and Nima.
Thanks to all the parents, teachers and teaching assistants who came to support us.
A HUGE THANKS to Cameron’s mum, Amanda for giving up her afternoons and three evenings at the
Croydon Arena. Thanks also to Ms Proctor’s washing machine… it had a very busy week!
