Year 2 have been celebrating the Hindu festival of Raksha Bandhan. This festival celebrates the love between siblings, signified by tying a bracelet around the wrist. Raksha Bandhan means ‘the tie or knot of protection’. We learned that people give not only siblings, but other relations such as cousins, aunts, nephews and nieces these bracelets as a form of love, care and a promise to protect. Mrs Rafiq wore a beautiful sari and taught Year 2 all about this interesting festival.
