We took our first steps towards being Zoologists, Entomologists, Herpetologists and Malacologists this week. Our visitors from ‘Zoolab’ introduced us to many animals including spiders, reptiles and mollusks. The reptiles, including a King snake, felt cold and soft; the Tarantulas were creepy and furry; the cockroach was delicate and fast, the scorpion was luminous – it actually glowed in the dark and the giant African land snail, well he was humongous! It was brilliant day and our Reception and Nursery children learnt such a lot about what was special and unusual about each species.
The weather didn’t interrupt our plans for sports day, we were determined that the children and parents had the chance to enjoy school life even though we are still being very careful with regards to social distancing and keeping safe. The children were full of sporting enthusiasm as they took part in a variety of sporting activities including running races, hurdles, space hopper dash, dressing up obstacle course as well as traditional races such as the egg and spoon and sack race. Thank you to Ms. Chapman for her brilliant commentary and keeping us all in control and amused! Thank you also to our brilliant parents who were wonderful spectators, cheering their children on and even partaking in a Mexican waves around the field! Happy days!
Each class has visited the book fair this week and each child has written a wish list of the books that they would like to read and have in their library at home. Please look out for the wish list in your child’s book bag and then go on line and pay on line. Any books ordered will come to the school and will be given out.
