Cypress Lower School end of term message

Today is the last day of the summer term and this academic year.  What a strange year we have had!

We would like to say how proud we are of all of our children, families and staff at Cypress Lower School.  During our end of term assembly on Google Meet this morning, myself and Miss Chapman spoke about how impressed we’ve been with everyone’s hard work with their learning at home during the past few months.  It has been fantastic to see so many of your smiley faces joining in on your class and year group Google Meet sessions.  We also spoke about how everyone needs to prepare themselves for returning to school in September and start thinking about what changes we will all need to make to our routines and lifestyle.  Please have a look at our Summer Reading Challenges and make sure that you all keep reading over the holidays.  We have missed everyone so much and can’t wait to see all of our children back at school in September!

Our amazing Year 2 children are moving from the Lower School to the Upper School whey they join Year 3 in September.  Miss Chapman read them a beautiful poem during assembly this morning (which you can read below) and we spoke about our memories of Year 2 on school trips and even when some of them were in Nursery at Little Cypress!  We are so proud of you all and know that you will continue to work hard and try your best when you join the Upper School.  Mrs Carpenter has made a very useful video tour of the Upper School so have a look at this together with the transition booklet and information that was posted home in your school reports.  Please do come and see us in September as we’d love to hear your news and see how much taller you’ve all grown!

Finally we would like to say a huge thank you to all of the dedicated and hard-working staff at the Lower School, who have really gone above and beyond to support our children and families during these challenging few months.  They all deserve a break this summer!

We wish all of our children, families and staff a safe and happy summer holiday.  Please keep an eye out for text messages and website updates and we look forward to seeing you all return to school on Thursday 3rd September.
