Cypress Academy Council Update

Dear Cypress Community,

Firstly, welcome back to all our families. The first half term went by so fast but seemingly really well with much positive feedback. The Members of the Academy Council (MACS) received wonderful reports about the enthusiasm, time and effort the staff and leadership have taken to make Cypress as safe and as an enjoyable place to be for our children, during these uncertain times. This of course would not have been possible without the support of parents/carers  and the willingness of the children, to whom we are truly grateful.

It is with great pleasure that I can announce following a successful interview, Mrs Nikki Carpenter has now been appointed as the permanent Head of School at the Upper site.  Mrs Carpenter has been Acting Head of School for several terms and knows the school well. Along with Mrs Roberts (who is covering Mrs Sorensen’s maternity leave ), they will work together continuing to provide stability and ongoing improvement at Cypress Primary School. I’m sure many of you will join us to support and congratulate Mrs Carpenter in this role.

I will continue as the Chair of the Local Academy Council and Cypress with Richard Steele and Beverley Nutter continuing as Vice Chairs. There will be a vacancy for a parent MAC later this term so we will be inviting candidates to be nominated and for parents to vote. Please look out for the details in the next few weeks.

Thank you and kind regards

Marsha Douglas
Chair of Cypress Academy Council
