CYP UPPER: This week’s learning journey!

This week, Year 6 have been looking into the work of  Lisa D. White as part of their Science unit on Evolution and Inheritance. She is an American geologist and Director of Education and Outreach at the University of California Museum of Paleontology and a former Professor of Geosciences and Associate Dean of the College of Science and Engineering at San Francisco State University. It has been really interesting to look into her life achievements and think about our own goals and our work towards them this year. We have been persevering with our goal to be more resilient this week and we have some fantastic learners to celebrate who have really been exercising their learning muscles, particularly those of absorption, managing distractions, noticing and perseverance. Well done to Esme (see the gallery) who was the model of resilience during an English lesson this week; this of course led to amazing outcomes! Year 5 have have been grappling with rounding numbers to the nearest 10,000, 100,000 and 1,000,000!

KS2 were also learning about Hip Hop culture in their music sessions this week, this involved thinking about rhythm, rhyme and tempo and applied this by indulging in some rapping-  speaking in time with the beat. Check out Hassan’s amazing rap below!

We have also been looking at Rosa Parks in a Year 3 history/english lesson and writing about her achievements and their impact on society. Year 4 have produced an amazing Harvest assembly. Please click here to enjoy!

Children who have ended the week on the ‘Wonder Wall’ are: Timmy (Lime) – for ran amazing piece of writing based on the book, ‘The Promise’ and Freda, Vincent and Tuilelaith in Sycamore Class for their amazing pieces of Viking jewellery! See below to see their amazing work!

Well done everyone for another fantastic learning week!
