Our Patron of Reading, Margaret Bateson-Hill, provided three treats for the Lower school this morning! She ran a storytelling workshop for parents, sharing ideas for telling stories from our own experiences, from books, and how to use props (as simple as a piece of fabric or a sock!) to help inspire stories. All the parents who attended have gone away with ideas of how to boost storytelling with their children at home.
Margaret then went down to Nursery to tell a story. The Nursery children greeted Margaret like she was an old friend and eagerly joined in with her story, even having a go on her djembe drum!
Finally, Reception, Year One and Two had a story from Margaret in assembly. She told us a story from West Africa and we had lots of fun joining in with the actions and singing. Thank you, Margaret, for inspiring us with your stories!
