CYP lower – Maypole dancing

During assembly this morning Year 1 and 2 were treated to an amazing show of May Pole dancing, led by Ms Proctor and Mrs Guerry. Our recently refurbished wooden hall floor was the perfect dance floor to showcase the children’s dancing. Maypole dancing is a tradition on May Day, believed to have started in Roman Britain around 2,000 years ago to celebrate the arrival of summer. Children at Cypress will be learning this dance at school and look forward to performing at our upcoming sports day on Tuesday 2nd July.

On Bank Holiday Monday you can join Mayday celebrations at The Lakes Cafe at South Norwood Lake including May Pole Dancing, Morris Dancing Displays from the Old Palace Clogs, Little Folks Nursery Rhymes (£5 per family), local beer, food all day, cakes, coffee and crafts! 10am-4pm.  For details visit https://www.facebook.com/TheLakesCafe/
