We have had a busy week, as usual, in Little Cypress. We discussed the fireworks we had seen for both Bonfire Night on November 5th and for Diwali on November 7th. We printed beautiful firework pictures and made our own fireworks with glittery pipe cleaners, ribbons and dolly pegs. We played so imaginatively with our Bonfire Night small world and our Poppy/Army provocation. We learned all about Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights, and the story of Rama and Sita that is key to the celebrations. We also thought about why we wear poppies in November and talked about the brave soldiers who fought in the wars. We learned that it is the 100th Anniversary of the end of World War I.
As well as all these interesting activities, we also had our Patron of Reading, Margaret Bateson-Hill visit us to share some books and rhymes. What fun we had with her!
