Year 4 Zone

In Year 4, we strive to build on the learning and independence of the previous years.

As the children move up through Key Stage Two, they will take on more responsibility and will be expected to show they are becoming increasingly independent learners. This will mean more collabarative learning and group work, self-led research and increased resilience when faced with new challenges. They will also take a more active part in school life, with increased oppurtunities to represent the school in sports events such as Croydon Athletics, and an oppurtunity to go swimming as part of P.E. and games.

In Year 4, we work hard to engage the children and motivate them as learners. They may step into a character's shoes during role-play activities for writing, form a defensive 'tortoise' with their shields on Roman Day, work as a group to solve a mathematical challenge during Maths Week or even crawl through a sewer as part of our Krindlekrax unit!

Whatever the subject, we believe that if the children are interested, motivated and having fun, they will learn and remember more.
