The Regional Schools’ Commissioner, Dominic Herrington, has this week given his approval for The Archbishop Lanfranc Academy (TALA) on Mitcham Road in Thornton Heath to join the Pegasus Academy Trust. TALA will be the first secondary school in the Trust and this means that we can now deliver education from the age of two all the way up to the age of eighteen at schools within the Trust.
The most recent Ofsted inspection in March 2017 judged The Archbishop Lanfranc Academy to be good in all areas: leadership and management, teaching and learning, behaviour and welfare and outcomes for pupils, which fits with the strong record of achievement within the Trust. Lanfranc has recently undergone a multi million pound new build programme, resulting in stunning new facilities and applications for September 2018 are the highest for years. Jolyon Roberts says “After months of planning we are delighted to announce this new and exciting partnership. We have been impressed with the work done by Michael Del Rio and the staff at Lanfranc over the last few years and look forward to working with the school as it takes its next steps to success.”
As parents and carers will know PAT has focussed its growth on Thornton Heath and the immediate geographical area and with the addition of The Archbishop Lanfranc Academy the Trust will now be responsible for educating nearly 3000 students in the area. The new arrangements fulfil a long held ambition of the Trust to move into secondary provision and will allow local parents a wider choice of provider at secondary level – in line with the strategy of the Regional Schools Commissioner. The Archbishop Lanfranc Academy is set to join Pegasus from September 1st 2018.
