About Us

Our Sites

The two sites lie on either side of the very steep Cypress Road. As you come from the bottom of Cypress Road, towards South Norwood Hill, you will see the Lower school site on your right and, further up, the Upper school site on your left.

The Lower school site accommodates “Little Cypress” where we offer education for 2 to 4 year olds. Our community room is also on the Lower school site where, the PTFA hold their meetings as well as various social and fundraising events.

Cypress Primary School is a large, split-site school situated at the northern tip of the London Borough of Croydon.

Little Cypress

Little Cypress is home to our youngest children, aged 2, 3 and 4. It it led by Miss Ailsa Chapman, one of our Deputy Heads of School. Our aim is to offer provision of the highest quality, in a friendly and stimulating environment. The Early Years Foundation Stage are of crucial importance and we take great pride in the start we offer our children in ‘Little Cypress’; giving them a firm foundation on which to build their future learning. We encourage independence and curiosity, within a play-based curriculum, where everyone can succeed.

Our Two Year Offer (2YO), is called Rainbow Class. We have capacity for a maximum 24 children in the morning and 24 in the afternoon and are able to offer both full and part-time places. Children in Rainbow Class are also able to attend our Breakfast and After School Clubs, housed in for this age range the Little Cypress building. The adult/child ratio for Rainbow Class is 1:4.

Our nursery provision is called Gold and Silver Classes.  All children are eligible for 15 free hours of nursery education or 30 hours with particular qualifying criteria. The eligibility starts the school term after the child has their third birthday. We have capacity for 26 children in the morning and 26 in the afternoon and are able to offer both full and part-time places, as well as Breakfast and After School Club. The adult/child ratio for Gold and Silver Classes is 1:8.

We use prescribed criteria to decide which children can be offered a place in Little Cypress, including priority given to siblings and those eligible for the 2 Year Offer funding of 15 hours a week of free childcare. If you are in receipt of certain benefits please visit this website to check eligibility:
